1 What is the Revised Baux Score Calculator?

The Revised Baux Score Calculator estimates predicted mortality risk after a burn injury from three inputs: %TBSA burned, patient age, and presence of inhalation injury. It can be opened pre-filled with %TBSA carried over from the app's Parkland Formula calculator. The resulting score is mapped to five mortality risk bands, from Low (under 5% predicted mortality) to Near 100% Mortality, each with a brief clinical description.

3 Formula & method

Revised Baux Score = TBSA (%) + Age (years) + (17 x R), where R = 1 if inhalation injury is present and R = 0 if it is not, exactly as stated in the app. The resulting score is then categorized: below 70 = Low Mortality (<5% predicted), 70-90 = Moderate Mortality (10-50% predicted), 90-110 = High Mortality (50-75% predicted), above 110 = Very High Mortality (>90% predicted), and above 140 = Near 100% Mortality.
