Age Correction for Prematurity
The CGA/PMA Calculator computes two related but distinct ages for a preterm infant: Corrected Gestational Age (CGA, also called Corrected or Adjusted Age) and Post-Menstrual Age (PMA, also called Postconceptional Age), from date of birth, gestational age at birth, and a current or assessment date.
Per the app's comparison table: CGA is referenced to term (40 weeks) and used for development/growth tracking until 2 years of age; PMA is referenced to the last menstrual period, always expressed in weeks, and used for medical thresholds throughout the NICU stay.
The app applies CGA until 2 years of age (730 days chronological age), after which correction is typically no longer applied.
PMA = GA at Birth (weeks) + Chronological Age (weeks), per the app — a continuous clock starting at the last menstrual period that never resets.
Apnea of prematurity monitoring, caffeine therapy thresholds, ROP screening schedules, discharge planning, and anesthesia safety timing (the app notes ≥44 weeks PMA), per its info section.
When the infant was born at term or post-term, when PMA hasn't yet reached 40 weeks, or when the infant is older than 2 years — the app displays the specific reason in each case.
