EULAR/PRINTO/PRES paediatric criteria - purpura is MANDATORY plus ≥1 of the four other features.
The IgA Vasculitis (HSP) Criteria is a rheumatology scoring tool used in paediatric practice. EULAR/PRINTO/PRES paediatric criteria - purpura is MANDATORY plus ≥1 of the four other features. It scores 5 criteria and interprets the total across 3 bands, so the number always arrives with the severity it implies rather than on its own. In PediAid each criterion is shown as a labelled option with the weight it carries, so the total can be checked rather than taken on trust.
5. They are MANDATORY - Palpable purpura or petechiae with lower-limb predominance, without thrombocytopenia; Diffuse abdominal pain of acute onset; Histopathology: leucocytoclastic vasculitis or proliferative glomerulonephritis with predominant IgA deposits; Arthritis or arthralgia of acute onset; Renal involvement - proteinuria and/or haematuria.
The total is interpreted as: any score - Criteria not met: purpura with lower-limb predominance is MANDATORY. Without it the criteria cannot be met - consider other causes of vasculitis or purpura; 4 criteria or more - Purpura only: mandatory purpura present but no additional criterion yet. At least one of abdominal pain, arthritis/arthralgia, renal involvement or typical histology is required; 5 criteria or more - Criteria MET: purpura plus ≥1 additional criterion - classifies as IgA vasculitis (HSP). Monitor blood pressure and urinalysis regularly for at least 6 months to detect nephritis.
No. It is a structured way to record and communicate severity. A clinician concerned about a child should act on that concern regardless of the total.
Sensitivity 100%, specificity 87% in the validation cohort.
Yes. Score definitions are bundled with the PediAid app, so the score computes without a connection.
